Since the release of the "Shrouded Sky" update, ARC Raiders players have been chasing the Firefly Burner-a rare and essential component for progressing key in-game projects and crafting powerful gear. Unlike common loot items that spawn randomly or can be crafted, the Firefly Burner has a specific acquisition method, requiring players to ARC Raiders BluePrints hunt and defeat a new enemy type. This guide breaks down everything you need to know to get your hands on this valuable resource, from locating the right enemies to mastering combat strategies and ensuring you keep your hard-earned loot.

What Is a Firefly Burner, and Why Do You Need It?

First, it's critical to understand why the Firefly Burner matters. Introduced in the "Shrouded Sky" update, this rare ARC component is not just a collectible-it's a prerequisite for advancing the "Weather Monitor System Project," a multi-stage task that unlocks valuable rewards. Without it, you'll hit a wall in this project, slowing your overall progression.

Beyond the project, the Firefly Burner is a versatile crafting material. It can be used to create Trailblazer Grenades at a Level 3 Explosives Station, requiring just one Firefly Burner, one Synthesized Fuel, and two Crude Explosives. If you don't need it for crafting, you can recycle it for Arc Alloy and Crude Explosives, or salvage it for additional Crude Explosives, making it useful even if you've completed the Weather Monitor System Project.

The Only Way to Get a Firefly Burner: Defeat Firefly ARC Units

Unlike many resources in ARC Raiders, the Firefly Burner cannot be found in chests, looted from random containers, or crafted. The only way to obtain it is by defeating Firefly ARC units-new flying enemies introduced in the "Shrouded Sky" update.

Fireflies are aerial threats that resemble Hornets (a common flying ARC unit) but have distinct differences. They have a sleeker, jet-fighter-like shape, an extra metal plate on top, and four armored rotors (unlike Hornets, which only have two armored rotors from the front). Most notably, they wield flamethrowers instead of electric attacks, making them far more dangerous at close range.

The good news is that Fireflies have a nearly 100% drop rate for Firefly Burners-meaning almost every Firefly you defeat will leave the component in its wreckage. However, you must successfully loot the wreckage and extract from the raid to keep the burner; if you fail to extract, you'll lose your hard-earned loot.

Where to Find Firefly ARC Units

Fireflies are not limited to a single map-they spawn on every ARC Raiders map, making them relatively easy to find during regular raids. They typically join patrols with other flying ARC units like Hornets and Wasps, so if you spot a group of aerial enemies, there's a good chance a Firefly is among them.

While they can appear anywhere, some areas are more reliable for farming. The Hydroponic Dome Complex in the Dam Battlegrounds region is a top spot, thanks to its open sightlines and elevation changes that make it easier to target Fireflies safely. On the Stella Montis map, Fireflies often patrol open areas like loading zones and hallways, where Hornets and Wasps are already active.

You can also find Fireflies during Matriarch or Harvester events. These events attract groups of smaller ARC units, including Fireflies, making them ideal for farming multiple burners in one session. Keep an ear out for the sound of aerial deployment-Fireflies crash down from orbit before joining patrols, so this sound is a clear sign one is nearby.

How to Defeat Fireflies Safely and Efficiently

Fireflies are dangerous, but with the right strategy, you can take them down without wasting gear or dying. Their biggest threat is their flamethrower, which can melt your armor and kill you in seconds if you're caught in close range or out in the open. Here's how to defeat them effectively:

First, prioritize stripping their armor. Fireflies have armored rotors, so using weapons with strong armor-piercing capabilities (like the Hull Cracker) is key. Once the armor is broken, target their thrusters or exposed fans-this will cause the Firefly to lose stability and crash, making it easy to finish off and loot.

The rear exposed fans are the safest weak point to target. If the Firefly is facing you head-on, circle behind it during its flamethrower animation to get a clear shot at the rear fans. From below, you can also target the front fans, which are exposed when viewed from that angle.

Avoid fighting Fireflies in enclosed spaces-their flamethrower is far more difficult to dodge in tight areas. Instead, engage them from a distance, using cover to avoid their fire. If you're playing in a squad, coordinate fire to take down the Firefly quickly, and rotate who draws its aggro to ARC Raiders Loot for sale minimize burn damage.

For solo players, use cover wisely. Peek out to shoot the Firefly's weak points, then duck back to avoid its flamethrower. Once the Firefly crashes, rush to its wreckage to loot the burner, but stay alert-other ARC units or enemy raiders may be drawn to the noise of the fight.
