However, the harsh reality reveals ongoing racial discrimination, leading to significant barriers in professional advancement. A glaring deficiency exists in the essential trio of black writers, producers, and directors, alongside a stark lack of resources to cultivate our craft.

Specifically in the northern regions of Brazil, access to educational programs in film is severely limited, with just one federal university offering this specialization. Despite Amazonas ranking high in demand for filming locations, creative endeavours from this region remain scarce. This prompts an important inquiry: how many narratives are left in the shadows, unshared each day?

The recent pandemic has further deepened the challenges faced by our community. Yet, in these testing times, black professionals have consistently risen to adapt and innovate. Notably, one year after the pandemic deeply affected creatives globally, and in light of a new surge in Brazil, we at Netflix reaffirm our commitment to support black film and television professionals and organizations.
