Two years back, a collaboration between Netflix and Gobelins L'école de l'image was born, focusing on scholarship initiatives to cultivate emerging talent in the world of animation.

This partnership has successfully fostered creativity among individuals from France, India, and Africa via the Netflix Animation Scholarship Program hosted in Japan, alongside our Character Animation Scholarship initiative.

In our quest to further empower aspiring animators, we recently conducted a specialized week-long visual storytelling workshop for students enrolled at Amity School of Film & Drama in India.

From March 15 to 19, the talented team from Gobelins curated both the curriculum and faculty, selecting many experts who are esteemed graduates and instructors from their renowned animation school.

Throughout the program, students were immersed in the fundamentals of storyboarding and animation techniques through engaging lectures and interactive sessions.

The curriculum covered a broad spectrum of topics, including animation principles, the essence of storytelling, character design, storyboard creation, and gesture design.

We were honored to host several guest speakers, including established animation studio leaders such as Guillaume Dousse from Sun Creature and Anish Mulani of Fractal Picture. Additionally, Rajiv Chilaka, the founder of Green Gold Animation, shared insights from his experiences working on Netflix’s popular children's series “Mighty Little Bheem.”

Participants benefited from tailored coaching sessions with faculty, allowing them to refine their projects across diverse formats in film, television, and animation.
