I didn't expect Season 13 to feel this different, but it does. The Paladin gets most of the chatter, and fair enough, people have waited ages for that holy shield fantasy to come back. Still, the real endgame push isn't just about a shiny weapon or a lucky armour roll anymore. You feel it once Torment starts biting back. Your Diablo 4 Items still matter, of course, but the Talisman and Seal setup is where builds start to separate from each other. A half-finished Seal can carry you for a while, then suddenly it can't. That sixth slot isn't a luxury. It's the bit that turns a solid character into something ready for the nastier tiers.

Getting the Seal opened up

The part a lot of players trip over is progression. It's tempting to sit in a comfortable World Tier, farm easy clears, and wait for upgrades to fall into your lap. That worked better in older loops. This season, it'll slow you down. Skovos progression matters more than it first appears, especially if you're chasing the last two Seal slots. The “Echoes of the Ancients” questline isn't exactly thrilling every step of the way, but you'll need to finish it for the Master's Seal Fragment. I'd do it as soon as your build stops falling over. Don't wait until everything feels perfect, because it probably won't.

Farming where it actually pays

Helltides are still worth your time, but not every chest deserves your Cinders. After a few runs, most players notice the same thing: standard chests are fine for filler, but they're not where the good Seal pieces usually show up. Cursed Reliquaries are the better target, and the Reliquary of the Lost chests should be your main sink when they're up. It feels a bit rough skipping chests when they're right there on the map, I know. But if your goal is Seal-compatible gear, being picky saves hours. Spend less time clearing everything and more time choosing the right reward.

Don't scrap a strong four-slot Seal too fast

A good four-slot Seal can still be worth gambling on. If the affixes are clean and they fit your build, don't instantly replace it with some ugly five-slot drop. The Horadric Cube gives you a way to push it further: combine the Seal with three Resplendent Sparks and ten Skovos Sigils for a chance to raise the slot count. It's not free power, and yes, the roll can sting. But compared with waiting for the perfect natural drop, it's a risk many endgame players will happily take. Sometimes keeping the right base is smarter than chasing a prettier number.

Why Thorns Paladin is everywhere

The Thorns Shield Burst Paladin has become the build people keep coming back to, especially after the May 13 balance pass. It's not flashy in the usual way. You're not spamming buttons like a madman. You throw the shield, hold your ground, block hits, and let enemies punish themselves. Stand Firm and Divine Fortress do a lot of the work here, turning defence into damage in a way that feels almost rude once it gets rolling. With a Grandmaster's Charm in a six-slot Seal, the reflection damage climbs fast.
