The have lost two straight since their incredible six-game winning streak over the last few weeks, but theyre surely excited about injured rookie Connor McDavids progre sion. Sportsnets Mark Spector reported that McDavid has resumed skating drills with the teams skating coach while the Oilers are on the road. : McDavid broke his clavicle on Nov. 3 and mi sed his 20th game Thursday as the Oilers were shut out in Chicago. The Oilers have been careful not to provide a return date, but he is weeks ahead of their internal schedule, in late November. Any time after mid-January, it is expected McDavid will be practicing with the team and nearing a return. The news really cant get much better than that. The Justin Hill Jersey Oilers struggled in the immediate aftermath of losing the most anticipated NHL rookie in over a decade to injury, but of late they have been flying. The team is 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and the offense has had a pretty good spark. It helps that returned to the lineup with some scoring pop and has been lightning things up since his recall from the minors. Additionally, has been one of the leagues top producing players. Once McDavid gets back, this team could really be clicking. They also have to get McDavids prior linemates Nail Yakupov and Benoit Pouliot healthy, but both should be back before McDavid returns if they want to get the band back together. The most interesting aspect of this whole thing is that Edmonton is actually within striking distance of a playoff spot. Seriously. Thanks to the absolute dreadfulne s of the Pacific Division, the Oilers are just two points out of third place despite a 14-17-2 record. They really, really shouldnt rush McDavid back, but the sooner he arrives the better. The division is wide open, aside from the Kings running away with first place. Before going down, McDavid put up 12 points through his first 13 games. He is still 11th in rookie scoring in the league. The Oilers job now is to stay close in the Pacific and hang on as long as they can. With how things are going in that division, they just might be able to.
